US Casualty

We underwrite US Casualty Reinsurance from two platforms: London and the USA.

In London we specialise in workers' compensation at catastrophe and exposed levels, as well as medical malpractice and professional liabilities for lawyers and accountants. In addition, we participate in auto liability, fidelity and general liability products for small regional companies to larger multi-state carriers.

In the USA, through our Aspen Re America entity, we specialise in general and product liability, auto liability, workers' compensation and excess liability including umbrella. In addition we participate on non-medical professional liability products such as miscellaneous Errors & Omissions (E&O), real estate and insurance agents. 

Our underwriters have the necessary experience and expertise to establish appropriate reinsurance programmes for mutuals, captives, risk retention groups and stock companies. Through working closely with brokers and clients, we aim to create tailored solutions for current day issues.

We have developed a strong panel of specialists within the US who are readily available to help with many aspects of the business from wordings to claims.

All our clients are North American, 95% of which are from the US and the remainder from Canada.

Our products include:

Medical Malpractice

We underwrite cover for medical practitioners, hospitals, nursing homes, hospital captives, PIAA companies, and the larger surgeon insurance companies.  Risks covered include professional liability, negligence and malpractice. The book is written on an excess of loss claims-made basis.

Professional Liability

We provide tailored products that cover a broad range of professions including lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers and real estate agents, specialising in the smaller and lower exposure risks.

Workers' Compensation

We underwrite excess of loss treaty protection at both working and catastrophe levels.  We provide cover within the first $1million to smaller regional and profession specific writers, often to higher hazard groups such as US Life and Health, logging and construction insurers.  Catastrophe treaties are offered to smaller and nationwide entities.

General Liability

We offer a range of general liability covers for US cedants from contractors' liability to specialist areas such as coverage for nursing homes against negligence actions. Cover is underwritten for primary insurers of varying sizes and business portfolios.

Automotive Liability

We provide products for insurers on a regional or multi state basis. Covers extend to third party liability for commercial and private passenger vehicles.

Fidelity

We underwrite a range of covers for US primary carriers and risk mitigation tools for some of the world's largest financial entities.

Umbrella/Excess Liability

We provide excess liability coverage for both standard lines and excess and surplus lines carriers.

Product Liability

We provide coverage for a wide range of product manufacturers for both standard lines and excess and surplus lines carriers.
