Chris Oliveira (Claims)

I am a 2006 graduate of The Franciscan University of Ohio and have been fortunate enough to be employed with Aspen since May of 2007. I currently hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a concentration in both Micro and Macro Economics and continue my education by partaking in various Insurance Designations.

Having left Bermuda for University in the US, my intention had always been to use my degree as a platform with which to enter the island's extensive International Business market. Subsequently with the various events of 2005, namely Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, there was an influx of insurance and reinsurance capital entering the Bermuda Market. This of course provided a number of opportunities for post-graduate employment.

I was very fortunate to have discovered Aspen's plans for Graduate training and was more than happy to apply. Throughout the application process it was evident that Aspen was a highly professional and structured organization with a true commitment to training and the investment of talent development. There seemed to be an understanding that Aspen recognised its most valuable assets to be qualified and motivated employees, as was evidenced by the near-perfect balance of professional and social development opportunities.

Over the last 15 months working as a property claims adjuster in Bermuda has been both challenging and rewarding. Having an opportunity to work with and learn from some of the industry's most experienced and educated personnel has been invaluable. The face-to-face mentoring and the emphasis placed on continued education and training, both through seminars and industry designations paid for by the company, allow me to develop all the tools necessary to become the industry professional I've envisioned.
